Unfortunately, our stay at Apartment De Luna began in a very concerning way, which overshadowed the entire experience.
During check-in at the reception, the staff member insisted on taking photos of both sides of our ID cards — mine and my partner’s. As soon as I heard this, I firmly objected, as such a request is highly inappropriate and violates basic data protection principles.
Despite my protest, the receptionist insisted, claiming that "the system requires it" and that she takes photos of every guest’s ID. I find this completely unacceptable. Storing images of personal identification documents in an unknown system, without the guest’s consent or any assurance of data security, is a serious violation of privacy and GDPR.
Unfortunately, that wasn’t the only issue. On the reception desk, registration forms containing personal information of other guests were openly visible and accessible to anyone entering the reception area. It was easy to read full names, ID numbers, dates of stay, and other sensitive information. This is an absolutely unacceptable and unprofessional practice. No establishment that values guest privacy should allow such a situation.
I strongly advise against staying at this property for anyone who values their privacy and basic data security standards. This incident was not only uncomfortable but also raises serious concerns about the legality of the staff’s actions.
